Curiosity – the desire to know more about the world
I think that Reading and Annotate help me a lot in this part. The reason is that reading can give us make different viewpoint to some subject. It is good because when I read the article "what is Toxic Masculinity?" by Salam, I know what the meaning of Toxic Masculinity is. Besides, I never think this problem about Toxic Masculinity. After reading this article, I read the other article about toxic masculinity on Google and listened to many different sounds to this phenomenon.
Openness – the willingness to consider new ways of being and thinking in the world
The article "What Is Toxic Masculinity?" gives me a way to think about this social phenomenon. I read different comments from different groups, which push me to consider toxic masculinity in a new way.
Engagement – a sense of investment and involvement in learning
Apostrophes, italics, and quotation marks are the parts I am most sure of because I studied a lot in high school. But, this grammar exercise let me know I was just speciously master a part of knowledge. I need to work more on my grammar in the following exercises.
Creativity – The ability to use novel approaches for generating, investigating, and representing ideas
The exploratory writing this week gives a feeling that watching movies can help us develop some ideas for social phenomena.
Persistence – the ability to sustain interest in and attention to short- and long-term projects
This is very interesting and allows me to continue to focus on completing this assignment. I have watched Beauty and the Beast once before, but these assignments allow me to focus on the characters' arrangement, personality, behavior, and language. This makes me think this film has become very interesting, and I have found many things found. Although I spent a lot of time with this homework, I have always maintained interest.
Flexibility – the ability to adapt to situations, expectations, or demands
By listening to the podcast, I know what the podcast is and how to express my idea using different genres.
Responsibility – the ability to take ownership of one's actions and understand the consequences of those actions for oneself and others
Peer review allows me to see different views on a thing, and I think it is essential to evaluate my classmates' writing. I have to be responsible for my peer review and try my best to give them the most useful suggestions.
Metacognition (reflection) – the ability to reflect on one's thinking as well as on the individual and cultural processes used to structure knowledge
The reflection blog helps me a lot in metacognition. Insisting on writing the reflection blog every week, I can look back on the past week and think these questions: what have I done? Am I improving? How did these advances come from? If I want to improve next week, what more efforts do I need to make? These reflections give me different results every week.
Reading the article "What is Toxic Masculinity" also brought me a new perspective on gender roles. I am also very interested in this aspect, and I will further focus on the portrayal of toxic masculinity in my future studies in Disney films.
I agree with you. I learned about toxic masculinity only after reading "What is Toxic Masculinity". This made me think from a new perspective. It also stimulated my curiosity.
Hi Alan,
I think you are right about the part where annotating can help us to better understand the article we are reading, because when we annotate we would go search detail of the word and idea, it also let us get more interested in the topic which creates curiosity for us on the topic.
